Tagging and Hashtags for Business

When you have a collaboration with a company or a public persona with a large social media following, leverage it! Use tags to potentially expose your post to a larger audience.

Facebook

Use the @ symbol before the name of the person or business. This will bring the post to their attention and potentially expose your post to a much larger audience.

You can use this method to bring a post to the attention of friends you think may be interested in the content of the post. 

Hashtags are not widely used on Facebook, so keep it to a minimum, 3-4. 

Twitter

As with Facebook, use the @ symbol before the name of the person or business.

This can expose your tweet to followers they have on Twitter. Better yet, it could encourage them to retweet and grow your audience exponentially. 

Hashtags are extremely popular on Twitter and people search for them. Effective use of hashtags can grow your audience. 

Try searching for trending hashtags and find ones that are relevant to your content. Make sure you avoid using hashtags that don’t apply.

Instagram

Again, use the @ symbol before the name of the person or business.

Hashtags are very popular on Instagram and can be used effectively.
